I’m writing because I’m extremely frustrated with how my care was handled at your office. From the very first appointment when I came in for a consultation, I clearly communicated that I was nervous about dental procedures. When I returned for my second appointment to do impressions, I again made it clear that I was anxious. At no point during either of those visits did the doctor mention prescribing any medication to help manage that anxiety. Then on the day of my procedure — the day everything was already scheduled — the doctor suddenly decided that I needed to be prescribed calming pills before moving forward. That decision meant my procedure had to be pushed back. This created a huge and completely avoidable problem. I had already arranged to take time off work specifically for that day. I also had to coordinate with someone to take time off and drive me to the appointment. Because of the last-minute decision made by the doctor, all of that planning was wasted and now I have to ask that person to take another day off again. Frankly, this shows a serious lack of foresight and consideration for your patients’ time and responsibilities. If I repeatedly communicated that I was nervous, a competent provider should have addressed that before the day of the procedure, not at the last possible moment. Patients organize their schedules, work, and transportation around appointments like these. The way this situation was handled was careless, inconvenient, and completely unprofessional. I hope your office takes this as a lesson to actually listen to patients and plan appropriately instead of creating unnecessary problems for them at the last minute.
