Great first experience and first-class service for on-boarding. The team did a great job of explaining the why behind everything they did and making you feel like a partner in your health. It’s not quite as upscale as some other options in Ann Arbor, but if you don’t mind that the service itself is top notch. Dr. Distlerath is very attentive and knowledgeable.
We switched to here after our insurance changed. This place is low-key (like, less fancy-pants) compared to our previous dentist but we feel well taken care of. The hygienist here is especially good - personable, passionate, and highly experienced. Dentists seem good but so far I haven't spent much time with them (fine with me!). My kids have had good experiences here as well. The only reason I'm not a 5-star review is that we had a billing issue that led to me being overcharged that wouldn't have been caught without me noticing it. They were super responsive and helpful in figuring it out, but since this just happened it seemed weird to give a perfect score. But - if you're looking for a dentist, this seems so be a very good practice overall.
LoveLoveLove this dental practice and everyone in it. From the moment you walk through the front door and enter a room filled with natural light, to the cheerful greeting at the front desk. You feel something you don't often feel in a dentist office; instantly relaxed. My dental hygienist, Annie, is the BEST in the world. She is kind and friendly and professional. She also has a great sense of humor. She knows how to calm you and get the job done. I love having my teeth cleaned and Annie is excellent at her job. My dentist, Dr. Justin Distelrath, always has a warm and winning smile when he greets his patient. He is friendly, kind and professional. This is the greatest group of dentists and like-minded professionals in Ann Arbor. They got the best vibe. They got it right!
The cleaning and dental check for my 2yo was fine overall. Dr Sykes was quick and good at looking at her teeth while she pursed her lips uncooperatively. However, I really did not appreciate Faye’s response to my attempt to calm my already apprehensive little one. I was trying to prepare her emotionally by talking through how some things are actually familiar to her. As Faye was about to put the dental bib (that’s what it’s called on Google) on her, I said, “Look, it’s a bib!” Because she actually likes her bib at home. And Faye cut me off and said loudly, “It’s not a bib. It’s a dental (some fancy word I don’t even remember). You don’t need a bib anymore, bibs are for babies! You’re 2yo!” Luckily my little one didn’t really comprehend what she was saying and didn’t make a fuss about that. But Faye sure doesn’t know the right techniques to calm a child and help them get used to a new environment and procedure. This is only her second dental appointment in her whole life! And really her first ever appointment where she’s fully aware of what’s going on. Once I got home, I immediately looked into all the other available dental hygienists online and texted the office and asked them to make sure all the members of my family are not assigned to Faye for our future appointments. They were really nice and made sure all our appointments were updated or rescheduled as necessary with no questions asked. I definitely do not recommend Faye.
