Misleading Billing and False Assurances — Now Sent to Collections My experience with Aspen Dental in Livonia has been extremely disappointing and financially damaging. During my visit, I was shown a screen that clearly listed what my insurance would cover and what I personally owed. I paid exactly what they told me I owed. No one said it was an estimate, no one warned me of additional charges, and I was repeatedly assured that insurance would cover the rest. When I later began receiving bills from my insurance company, I contacted Aspen Dental immediately. For over a year, every time I called, I was told the same thing: “Don’t worry, we just need to send paperwork to insurance — the system didn’t send it, but it will go away.” Meanwhile, my insurance company consistently told me they had never received any paperwork from Aspen Dental. Despite doing everything I was told, Aspen Dental allowed the situation to escalate to debt collectors, causing unnecessary stress and financial harm. After reading many other reviews, it’s clear that this is not an isolated issue. There seems to be a pattern of misleading cost presentations, false assurances about coverage, and failure to follow through on promised paperwork. I am now documenting everything and considering filing formal complaints with the Michigan Board of Dentistry and my insurance provider’s fraud and ethics department. I am also open to connecting with others who have experienced similar issues to pursue further action if needed. Aspen Dental needs to correct this immediately by removing the collections activity and fixing the billing errors caused by their own misleading communication. Ignoring this will only escalate the situation further.
