I had anterior crowns by Dr. CANTWELL and absolutely love my new smile. They made the process extremely easy and pleasant, and even worked with me on a special schedule to accommodate my work. I've been a patient with Atlantis since 2005 and never been disappointed by any of the services.
I’m recently new to the Boise area, Atlantis Dental Care was recommended to me by one of my family members. I had my first appointment yesterday on 10/22. The team at Atlantis Dental Care were very impressive, beginning with my check in and during my experience with Dr. David Cantwell and his staff. My visit began with Deena, Dr. Cantwell’s assistant. Deena was a delight to work with and go over my history and she performed some preliminary tests, before having Leah the Hygienist clean my teeth ! Both Deena and Leah were very professional and very personal in working with me. The staff at check out was great as well and explained all my options for my future visits ! I have definitely found my Dentist Group for the future !!! All in all an absolutely amazing experience, always great to enjoy first class treatment as a new patient ! I would highly recommend this Dental Group at Atlantis if you are looking for an outstanding Dentist and support team for your Dental needs. Atlantis Dental is hands down the best spot for dental care in the Treasure Valley. I’ve been going there since I was a kid, and I’ve basically grown up with Dr. Cantwell. The guy is a total rockstar: Real, honest, friendly, and genuinely invested in making sure you walk out feeling like a million bucks. Heather and the rest of the team are just as awesome. They’re welcoming, upbeat, and always go the extra mile to make sure you’re comfortable, even when you’re nervous or unsure. Honestly, every single person there is good-hearted and wants to help. Thanks to them, I finally got the smile I’ve always wanted, and it didn’t cost an arm and a leg to make it happen. If you’re tired of stressful dentist visits or feeling like another patient on a schedule, go to Atlantis Dental. They treat you like family, and that alone makes all the difference.
I am a longtime patient of Dr Cantwell (10+years). He has never been the best listener, so at one point I left for another dentist but came back because Cantwell's work was so much better. That was before I had anything major done. Dr Cantwell and his staff were doing some contest and talked me into about $6000 of unnecessary cosmetic work, and throughout the process I was rarely informed of what was going on, didn't get to see the screen they were working on, and he made some mistakes. I tried to be open and honest in my communication, but was consistently left feeling bad after my appointments. I tried to convey that I didn't need or want the last round of Invisalign and it was like I never spoke. I ended up going along with it for another 6 months. After it was finally done, I pointed out pain and bleeding in one of the teeth he worked on (the same one he shortened by accident). He said I would have to pay for him to fix that so I have been bleeding for 2 years. My retainer broke within a month of receiving it. I waited until my next appointment, and he would not look at my retainer. Even if he did, I am sure he would have charged me for a new one. It is pretty normal there for everything to happen behind your head (you don't get to see your X-rays or what they're looking at), no mirrors for you to watch the work happening in your mouth; a lot of assumptions about the patient and what has or has not been communicated. For the last 5 years I was consistently told to "remember" things I was never told and that I said things I did NOT say. I got Invisalign without any videos or information and was told I had been given something. This is the only place in my life this sort of thing has ever happened. I am NOT crazy or forgetful, and I generally enjoy the people I encounter. But I have lost all trust in Dr. Cantwell, and my family won't be back. It's been a couple years and I still get stressed when I think about my experience there.
Since my original review was removed, I’m reposting with an update. In March 2022, I had ten veneers done by Dr. Cantwell at Atlantis Dental and paid $12,158. I've been disappointed ever since. All of them have a grayish-blue tint that looks nothing like what I expected. One of the front veneers chipped after just a year, and another popped off completely last week—only three years later. A few have bright white stripes that were meant to make them look more “natural,” but instead, they just look off. On top of that, the backs feel rough, which makes them uncomfortable. Not once has anyone complimented me on my smile since getting them. The only feedback I receive is about the bluish-gray color. I brought all of this up to Dr. Cantwell in September 2023. His solution? Pay another $5,000 to redo the work. When I explained I hadn’t brought it up sooner was because I needed time to evaluate them and get feedback-which only confirmed my concerns-he told me it was too late since a year had passed. They refused any refund. Not even a partial one. I do not recommend Atlantis Dental for veneers!! I expected to feel confident about my smile, but instead, I’m embarrassed by it. I recently consulted with another dentist-someone who had nothing to do with my original veneers-and even he could see the issues. Despite it not being his work, he offered to redo all ten veneers at half the price I originally paid. He also guarantees his work and told me that if I’m not happy with the results, he’ll fix them at no additional cost until I am. That’s what real customer care looks like. Atlantis Dental is far more focused on profit than on patient satisfaction. They don’t stand behind their work. If you’re considering veneers, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere!!!
