Powered by GoogleMy experience with Dr. Shah was disappointing. Overall, he came across as condescending and unprofessional. I visited for a wisdom tooth extraction, and the initial consultation was poorly managed. After waiting 45 minutes to be seen, the doctor spent only about 10–15 minutes with us, followed by another 45-minute wait just to receive a quote. What should have been a 20–30 minute appointment took nearly two hours. The recovery process was also very difficult, and I believe the quality of care contributed to it. The pain during the first week was severe and I would constantly wake up in the middle of the night, yet I was only prescribed three days of pain medication. At my follow-up a week later, I received another three-day supply, but when I requested additional medication due to continued pain, the office repeatedly failed to contact the pharmacy despite promising to do so. It’s now the weekend (the office is closed) and I’m still in significant discomfort. However, the dental assistants were nice and informative.
I wish I could give zero stars. (TMJ patient) I was issued a refund after being overcharged by over $800 while under Dr. Shah's care once I was told I needed a second procedure and opted to seek a second opinion elsewhere instead. Billing was disorganized and backpedaled during an audit of my account when I was hit with a bill a year and a half after I left AZ Oral. The office staff failed to mention my insurance was out of network when I called to confirm my benefits with them when I reached out to schedule an early 2025 appointment. Dr. Shah told me my jaw clicking and popping could not be fixed, something that I found out to be untrue when I transferred care to the Head Pain Institute. I've been without clicking and popping for over a year now. Dr. Shah left me with a close lock for 8 weeks after an arthrocentesis procedure, causing cavities and costing me thousands in physical therapy and making my condition worse than before I entered his care. The Head Pain Institute unlocked my jaw at my first appointment and set me up with a plan to fix my clicking, pain and popping, something Dr. Shah's arthrocentesis never fixed and was a waste of time and thousands of dollars. I wish I could go back in time and never go to this office. If you have TMJ, be warned.
Highly recommend this clinic! I was able to schedule an urgent appointment very quickly, and the doctor made time to see me. The doctor is highly qualified and a true professional. I also want to highlight the professionalism and client-oriented approach of the entire staff — from the reception, to the doctor’s assistant, to the coordinator who clearly explained the costs and optional services. From start to finish, an entirely positive experience. I will definitely continue choosing this oral surgeon.
I went in there for what was identified from a previous TMJ doctor as muscular tension to be treated with injections. I had a 3D 360 degree Cone Beam CT scan - $300. I was then questioned how I was even able to be breath when I sleep. It showed the opening open and then closing. Nobody told me not to swallow when I had the scan so it was obvious that is what was happening. I was instead instructed for the next 45 minutes how I needed major reconstructive surgery to pull the jaw forward. He doesn?t do pain injections or nerve blocks either. He offers Platelet Rich Plasma PRP but I he also insisted on an MRI before I could get the treatment. The MRI is only “available” with one provider which is highly suspicious too. It’s not a specific MRI machine that is needed but he has “special” instructions. As if any other MRI facility can’t follow his instructions for the imaging he wants. Totally ridiculous. I was over billed for the office visit at $300 to listen to his nonsense.
I had one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had at AZ Oral Facial and Implant Surgery. Upon arrival to the office, the staff directed me to a room to have a CBCT scan which I was not informed of previously or consulted with for consent. After the appointment was done, the staff directed me to an office where they demanded I pay $300 for the scan because they had determined after the fact that neither my medical insurance nor dental insurance would cover it. At no point before the scan was I told that a prior authorization for the scan had failed or that this was the amount out of pocket that I would pay. Upon complaint, I found the staff extremely hard to work with and disrespectful. Be extremely careful of this office as they are essentially scamming patients out of money by not disclosing any costs or insurance limitations beforehand.
