Powered by GoogleDr DiLeo is amazing oral surgeon ! My 2nd wisdom tooth removed and my daughter has been there too; good staff as well. He’s professional and easy to talk too about whatever your concerns are. Easy to schedule and front office is courteous.
Positive prior experience with the surgeon however his staff is greatly lacking. Be sure to check in advance that they processed your insurance and have the referrals they insist upon. Dr Dileo removed wisdom teeth for both my kids several years ago. When I learned that an impacted wisdom tooth was the cause of the increasing pain in my tooth, jaw, and neck, I believed Dr Dileo would be the trusted choice for treatment. I had a thorough conversation with a staff member when I made the appointment. She told me to request my dentist send an X-ray. She took my insurance details and said it should be straightforward as my kids had both been there. I waited 3 weeks for the consult appointment. On the Friday before my Monday appointment I received a call to confirm. This other staff said my dentist sent an X-ray almost 3 weeks prior but had not included a referral and that I had to get one before the appointment. She also said my insurance was not going through but then discovered she was misspelling my name! After being unable to reach my dentist whose office is closed on Friday, I called back to Dr Dileo’s staff and was told that despite my severe pain, I could not be seen without the referral. My dentist had emailed the X-ray almost 3 weeks prior yet they did not let me know until the last minute, on a Friday, that the referral was missing, nor did they email reply to my dentist. The staffer was dismissive, putting the onus on me to chase down my dentist Monday morning so that I could see the Dr as they are a “referral only office.” She had total disregard for the three weeks I’d waited in pain to see the Dr and did not acknowledge their failing in not contacting me or my dentist sooner for the missing referral. I phoned my insurance again to double check my coverage and decided to contact another in-network OMS who was more than happy to give me an appointment for the same day, handle my insurance, and call my dentist’s office directly for an X-ray and referral so that I could be seen immediately. Unfortunately Dr Dileo’s staff is not as thorough in their administrative duties nor as professional and patient-focussed. If you choose Dr Dileo keep on top of his staff to be sure they have everything in place so you can be seen and not carelessly disregarded
Would not recommend for highly anxious children. Our 9 year old needed 6 baby teeth removed in a timely manner for orthodontics. When I scheduled weeks prior, I was very transparent to my child’s extreme anxiety and tendencies, but was assured that I had nothing to worry about as the staff is very experienced with young children like this. When we were led into the procedure room, all needles and tools were literally left out in view and my daughter obviously melted down. There were no precautionary measures taken into account even when they were forewarned. I also had reminded at the front desk upon check in. There was also next to no effort given to help calm her, just the immediate decision being made to reschedule at a later time in a hospital setting, which SHOULD have been the first recommended course of action taken when the appointment was initially scheduled due to my disclosure upfront. The entire negative encounter may also been avoided had tools not been left out in view. Even as an adult, I would had appreciated not seeing them. So, tons of anxiety on child’s AND parent’s part leading up to the appointment day, just to be prolonged to another time. Oh yes, and we only got 24 hours notice of the hefty bill due the very next morning although the appointment was scheduled weeks prior. An estimate would have been greatly appreciated with more ample time to prepare. It was never even presented as an option. We are opting to start over with a more child minded dentist. I can’t speak to any surgical experience as we didn’t make it that far.
So imagine you are taking your 16-year-old daughter to get her wisdom teeth out and she’s having a lot of anxiety and you have to pull her out of school and you have to rearrange your schedule. And then you show up at the office and within seconds of walking through the door this huge furry dog comes charging at you and your daughter when your daughter has a fear of big dogs. And the girl from behind the desk has to come around and get the dog From being all up on you and your daughter. Then they required us to be there 20 minutes before the appointment at 12:45. We show up at 12:15-ish and then they tell us to go sit in the waiting room for a half hour while they go to lunch making your daughter’s anxiety worse. And then when they come back from lunch at 12:48 three minutes after the appointment time They call us back to the desk and tell us for payment And spit out a number over $500 that they did not tell us before we were there. Says she had to run our insurance first they should have done before we came so that we were aware of how much money we had to dish out that day. This whole office is a no for us. We will be getting my daughters teeth removed somewhere else.
DiLeo is good at what he does, but his assistants and receptionists are going to have customers running for the hills. My little sister was due for her wisdom teeth removal. My family called early to say they had car trouble, but were going to be on time. They were told over the phone it would be no issue. They were 1 block away and they got a call at 8:25 saying their appointment for 8:30 was canceled. (Showed on the iPhone clock, we don’t deal with incorrect time) There was no budging. Honestly ridiculous considering people have to wait months for these appointments, they were on time, and even made the effort to call with an update on their situation. They asked over the phone when we wanted to reschedule—Never????? I came here years ago to have 4 wisdom teeth removed. There was no friendly chit chat before the procedure, just silence while I waited to be put under. I tried to make friendly chat with the dental assistant and pretty much got ignored. When I woke back up afterwards, again no friendliness, just woke up and was told to gather my belongings to move. The assistant didn’t even look at me when she spoke, but just continued grabbing her used equipment and then guided me out. It was very alarming to wake up after surgery and be immediately told to get up and leave the space. I give credit where it’s due- my wisdom removal healed fine. Minimal swelling on my end. The corners of my mouth though were ripped slightly and took a week to heal. I was never going to write a review, but after my experience AND my little sister’s I don’t recommend coming here unless you have no where else to go. The job you need will get done, but clearly customer care and service is not something they care about. We mentioned our incident to other nurse friends, and they all said go to Dr Miller instead.
