I recently had a comprehensive exam and gum grafting with Dr. Alec Temlock, and I have to say, it was one of the best dental experiences I’ve ever had. From the start, Dr. Temlock explained everything in great detail — his calm, cool style immediately made me feel comfortable and confident. Even though gum grafting can sound intimidating, he and his team truly know what they’re doing and made the whole process surprisingly easy. I took oral sedation, so I basically slept through the entire procedure and woke up at home later with just a few stitches — no pain, no stress. The recovery went very smoothly and was much better than I expected. It’s been about a month and a half now, and the results look so natural that you’d never even know I had anything done. What really stands out about Dr. Temlock is his professionalism and communication. He knows how to approach his patients, explains everything clearly, and makes sure you understand every detail without feeling overwhelmed. His whole team is sincere and welcoming — and as someone who’s new to Nashville, I can confidently say I’ve found the best periodontal clinic in town. If you’re struggling with gum issues or just looking for a periodontist who genuinely cares and knows his craft inside out, I’d highly recommend Dr. Temlock. Thank you.
There are not enough stars in the world to describe Dr. Temlock and Nashville Periodontal Group! I went to go see Dr. Temlock at Nashville Periodontal Group in his Nashville, TN office (they have a Brentwood, TN location too) after I went to another local periodontist that my general dentist referred me to. The experience with the other Periodontist felt rushed, uninspiring, and it felt like they just wanted my money and required a deposit to schedule my surgery after 15 minutes with the staff and maybe 5 minutes with the doctor. So, I wanted a second opinion, and I am so happy I did! First, I want to talk about Dr. Temlock. He spent an entire hour with me at my initial consultation, and he really took the time to explain everything to me in terms that I could understand. I’ve never seen a doctor or dentist spend that much time with me! His chair-side manner was a 10/10, and I felt totally educated about my periodontal issue. He was there to answer all my questions, and he helped guide me through the anticipated surgery so I could make the right decision for MYSELF! He was so kind, patient, and genuine. This was almost the exact opposite of what occurred at the first periodontist’s office. Second, his staff was super nice, and they helped me out every step of the way regarding the logistics. They need to be mentioned here too because they were so awesome too! I was very anxious about my surgery, but Dr. Temlock’s knowledge, skills, confidence, and experience really put me at ease. I chose to be sedated for my procedure (and this was the best money I ever spent throughout the whole situation!), and I do not remember anything! I needed a really bad/cracked tooth removed, a sinus lift, and bone graft so I could get a dental implant. Sounds scary, right!?! Not with Dr. Temlock and Nashville Periodontal Group’s staff! Everything went just as he explained it at the consult. He even called me the next day to ask how I was doing and answer my questions. I’ve couldn’t believe the doctor actually called me instead of the nurse! Dr. Temlock really does care about his patients, and he even gave me his phone number in case I had any more questions over the weekend. Lastly, I returned to the office for my follow-up appointment about 3 weeks after the surgery, and Dr. Temlock saw me, took time to personally evaluate the surgical area, and answered all my questions again. I thought I was only going to see the assistant/nurse from Nashville Periodontal Group that day, but Dr. Temlock was the one who entered the room. I couldn’t believe it! Dr. Temlock reassured me that I was healing great and right on schedule, and Dr. Temlock explained that everything was on course which helped calm down my anxiety too. Overall, I cannot thank Dr. Temlock and the staff at Nashville Periodontal Group enough! Everyone is so professional and understanding. From the first time I met Dr. Temlock through the last goodbye, I cannot thank him enough. Now that everything major is complete, I am going to get my teeth cleaned with Dr. Temlock’s hygienists and alternate between my dentist’s office and Nashville Periodontal Group. The whole team at Nashville Periodontal Group are going to make sure they keep a close eye on all my teeth and gums into the future, so I know I am in good hands as Dr. Temlock and all the staff at Nashville Periodontal Group will continue to monitor the rest of my teeth and gums to hopefully minimize and prevent any serious issues in the future. After my experience with Dr. Temlock and Nashville Periodontal Group, I now know that my voice counts and my concerns will be addressed with professionalism, respect, empathy, and truly individualized to my specific needs. I cannot say thank you enough to Dr. Temlock and the staff at Nashville Periodontal Group, and my only advice is that anyone out there needing Periodontal or Dental Implant Surgery visit Dr. Temlock before making any decisions. I guarantee you will be astonished about how different the patient experience can be when compared to other providers!
I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Temlock and Nashville Periodontal Group! After a disappointing experience with another periodontist where I felt rushed and pressured, I came here for a second opinion—and I’m so glad I did. From my first consultation, the difference was obvious. Dr. Temlock spent nearly an hour with me, explaining everything clearly, answering every question, and making sure I felt confident about my options. His professionalism, patience, and genuine care are unmatched. The staff was also fantastic—friendly, helpful, and supportive from start to finish. I was anxious about surgery, but Dr. Temlock’s skill and reassurance made all the difference. I opted for sedation (worth every penny), and the procedure went exactly as explained. What impressed me even more was that he personally called me the next day to check in—something you just don’t see often anymore. Follow-up care was just as thorough, with Dr. Temlock himself checking on my healing progress. It’s clear that he and his team truly care about their patients and go above and beyond at every stage. If you need periodontal care or dental implants, don’t decide until you’ve seen Dr. Temlock. The level of attention, kindness, and expertise here is on another level.
It was truly a blessing to be referred by my dentist to Dr Temlock. He treated me like he knew me for years. He was very thorough in his diagnosis and detailed explanation of the pros/cons associated with the recommended treatment. He took time to answer all of my questions, and had compassion for my situation. The procedure exceeded my expectations and the entire experience in the office was painless.
Dr. Temlock and his whole team are amazing. I came to his practice recommended by a close friend and I am so lucky to have found him. The procedure I needed to have involved multiple visits, surgeries and many months. He is extremely thorough and cares about his patients. Before every surgery, Dr. Temlock took the time to discuss all of the details of the prep, the surgery and recovery. He always ensured all my questions were answered and made sure I felt comfortable. Dr. Temlock and his staff have great bedside manner and are extremely responsive. The care I have received has been great and I cannot recommend Dr. Temlock enough!
