Would advise others to find a different dentist. I started as a new patient in July 25’. Came in for the cleaning and was told I had to come back in 2 weeks to get panoramic X-rays done and that they had talked to my insurance and was cleared as I was concerned about being charged for these. I have never had to do it like that before and thought it was super weird. They said this was their policy. Okay. So I came back even though they are an hour away. I get a bill months later for the X-rays and they were not covered. I called insurance and they said they never called. I went back and forth with the staff they said insurance was lying, insurance said they were. They finally said insurance said they did call even though they told me otherwise. Either way the policy of making all clients get panoramic X-rays immediately with them whether or not you just had them done somewhere is 100% a money grab. I have gone to many dentists in my life and have never heard of this policy. They claim it’s because other dentists sometimes send blurry X-rays. But no other dentist does this. The whole experience felt very shady and my biggest concern is if they are telling me something is covered then say oops it wasn’t how many other times will they do this. Overall, the whole customer support experience was beyond disappointing. Would strongly say go somewhere else that has ethics and not trying to deceive client's so that can get more money. I’ll note I signed the form that I would pay for anything not covered by insurance and quotes are just quotes, which I am fine with. I’ve never had a dentist lie and say something was covered and wasn’t. Found a new dentist that gladly will accept X-rays from other dentists and thought this policy was very strange.

I was seated at 110pm for a 1pm appt. I was greeted by Amanda, who offered an apology for the wait. Amanda was great from start to finish - she was gentle in her care, and took time to keep me informed of the process as we progressed through my visit. She offered advice and was genuine in her conversation while I was in her care. A hygienist can “make or break” a visit to the dentist, and anyone who has Amanda as their hygienist is in great hands! Drake Dental either needs more staffing or to stop accepting new guests, as my family has had to continually make bi-annual 6mo check ups over a year in the future because there are no openings. After my appointment today at the end of January 2026, I had to schedule my next visit for Feb27.

My 3 year old had her first dentist appointment today at the Kalamazoo location. Amanda was her hygienist. She did so incredible with her. She was nervous before we got there. Amanda made her feel comfortable and explained things so well. She is very good with children! Thank you Amanda for making her first dentist appointment a hit. I will be forever grateful!
