I always love Essex Family Dental. They graduated me from a dark place I had entered from Dickinson and Branon Dental in 2023. I was assigned a new hygienist this time…not my favorite thing. I enjoy getting to communicate with my hygienist and also the way that they clean is all very different from person to person. So…..the new hygienist was moving very fast and honestly was causing me discomfort. I put my hands up and said “Can you please slow down? This doesn’t feel good”. She told me she would try but that this was her personality and that she always worked very fast. I let her know that if I didn’t feel good at the end of our session that I would request a new hygienist. Honestly…after being upfront with each other…she didn’t change her speed but I could tell that she was being extra exacting of where and how she placed her tools. She was tenacious about a spot that needed to be excised and I loved that. I didn’t want that Burnished Plaque in my mouth any more than she did!!!! lol. It turned out awesome and I appreciated her level of care. I’m still a little nervous for next time but I’m sure we will talk about it again and everything will be A OK. POS….communication is the key to happiness and wellness

My appointment was late in the day as the dentist was just going to take a look at an aching tooth and then make a plan. Dr. Dawley realized this issue needed immediate attention. I am not an easy patient. I get anxious, forget to breathe, and move around a lot. Along with her assistant, Tenzin, Dr. Dawley was able to perform what turned out to be a very involved situation. They weren't upset because it was causing them to stay late, and they were patient with me and made sure I was as comfortable as I was able to be. Machia and Emma stayed late and were kind and helpful as well. Thanks to all of you.

*BEWARE* if you have Delta Dental since they now have a dentist who doesn’t take this insurance. We have been going to this practice for over five years and have been very satisfied with the people and services. While Delta Dental warned us back in the fall with a letter, Essex Family Dental then followed reassuring that they did still take the insurance. While having to sign a new financial document in December, my husband then had a cleaning in January that was scheduled 6 months prior. It was only when he arrived, he was told that he would have to pay. This appointment was for a simple cleaning and fluoride only. It’s when he realized he was scheduled with this dentist and wasn’t told the amount due until checking out - $345 which he paid. Granted, they will submit it to Delta Dental on your behalf but out of the $345, we received back $173. I’ve been told you cannot request to not have this dentist, which is very disappointing. The communication from Essex Family Dental has not been transparent, very vague, especially if you don’t really know until you show up for your appointment. Thankful we had the money to pay that day but not ideal for some who won’t and will be blindsided.

Anna in Ortho was absolutely incredible. So friendly, kind, gentle and knowledgeable. I had a minor issue with my permanent bar and she fixed it and then some! I will request to see her every time!

From the moment I stepped up to the front desk, the woman there, sadly, I didn’t get her name but she was AWESOME ! Eye contact, smiling and graciously patient when I was trying to understand the insurance change. The other woman that was there to explain the w, jumped sip and didn’t come back until my appointment was over and then her explanation was brief and left me to chance to ask questions. That’s ok. Tiffany, Triple A AWESOME ! We briefly chatted, got my nerves calmed down, explained what she would be doing. I had the opportunity to meet the new dentist on the team, I would never admit this in public, lol, but I thought she was a student !!!! She too made me feel comfortable, explained what she saw and adjusted my denture. Explaining that there are a couple of spots that they will keep watch of but should anything change, please call. For a COLD Saturday morning, without a doubt the best dentist visit EVER !!! Only complaint… no coffee ! As the recall it’s been down for months, so it’s time to say good bye and let it go! Personally, I think it’s the sign that bugs me.
