When I first went to Hawkeye Dental, the hygienists and dental staff were kind and professional, but the man at the front desk was very rude. During my first appointment, I even heard him arguing on the phone with an insurance representative, speaking to her in a very disrespectful tone. Later, I decided to go somewhere more affordable for my fillings and asked Hawkeye Dental to send my information to the new office. My new dentist mentioned the X-rays they received were a bit blurry and asked if charts could be sent as well. When I called Hawkeye Dental to pass along the message, the front desk man was again rude and dismissive. Instead of simply explaining that I was no longer considered a patient and that charts couldn’t be sent, he made multiple snide comments like “there’s no way,” as if I were the one questioning their X-rays. The experience was very off-putting and unprofessional. The dental assistants were great, but the receptionist’s attitude makes it hard to recommend this office. Overall most of the staff was nice and comforting but not him.
Dr. Sunny Hamilton is fantastic. She used to have an office in Wapello, and that’s where I saw her at. I am now driving 1+ hr to see her. She is worth the drive. She is very gentle, and understanding. I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to dental work. She would ask me every so often how I was doing / feeling. I recommend her to everyone.
Words cannot express the gratitude that I have for Dr. Hamilton and her team. It started from the first moment I walked in the door when I was greeted with a smile and authenticity that I could feel. Dr Hamilton and the hygienist cleaning my teeth took a vested interest in my oral health, asked the right questions, and made me feel more comfortable and confident than I have felt anywhere else. (Especially after not being to this dentist in a couple years) One last thing that didn’t go unnoticed was the fact that the entire office has been revamped with a very modern look and feel. Thank you Hawkeye Family Dental!
No one really loves going to the dentist, but it's necessary if you want a healthy mouth and teeth. All I have to say is my experiences over the last 7+ years I've attended there at Hawkeye Family Dental are as pleasant as can be and they all definitely do what they can to minimize any stress for those of us with "white coat fever". A great clinic to go visit for your dental needs and Dr. Marcy Zwart DDS is as great as can be and I love that she did all her undergrad & dental school studies at the U of Iowa!
I had the worst tooth ache in my life recently. I contacted Dr. Zwart. She got me in quickly, diagnosed the problem, and got me the appropriate treatment. My problem was resolved in a couple of hours. She has been my primary dentist for several years. She explains what's going on and is very gentle in her treatment. I am very satisfied with her care.
