Powered by GoogleExcellent care! Gina is a great hygienist, so sweet, experienced, and professional. Dr. Chow is very good at what he does. He is knowledgeable, professional, thorough, and personable. They always seek to do what is best for the patient without giving us pressure. I highly recommend Landmark Dental.
I started going here a year ago to hopefully take care of serious dental issues that I had been putting off since moving back to Hawaii during the pandemic. I’ve only enjoyed going to the dentist ONE other time and it was in another state. Long story short— I have had some traumatic experiences as a kid and as an adult at other dental offices here on Oahu. At Landmark Dental, I can walk in comfortably and without anxiety. My dental hygienist, Marina, is so knowledgeable, kind, and patient. And Dr. Stearns has been an absolute gem! He always makes sure nothing hurts, and explains what he’s doing and why. The dental assistants are equally as careful and knowledgeable. We’ve all been working together to get my teeth back to normal, and for the first time in a long time, I can safely say that I’m not afraid of the dentist.
We get our 6 month cleaning and check ups here and other dental work done here as well. Dental care here is phenomenal and up to date. Doctors and most hygienists are phenomenal and they use state of the art equipment. The reason for the removal of one star is quite simply the waiting area/lounge area and phone communication. The lounge is freezing and the tv only displays invisalign advertisements on the tv. Receptionists can be heard gossiping about other patients which is uncomfortable but they are usually professional face to face(receptionists chewing gum is unbecoming as well). It isn’t a customer-centric area. On another note, I had a phone call from a receptionist on January 26TH and then returned the phone call. The receptionist talked over me in a loud voice and I literally had to repeat, “may I say something? May I say something?” She wasn’t rude and there may have been a language barrier.
I was having a rough ending of 2025 after being misdiagnosed by my previous dentist who also did not want to listen to my concerns. I was miserable until Dr. Gary Morikawa from Landmark Dental Honolulu who agreed to see me on a same day appointment. He explained options thoroughly and answered all of my questions. He referred me to a specialist who took care of my issue on the same day! Because of Landmark Dental's willingness to help me, I was able to enjoy Christmas and New Year's with my family pain free! I am beyond grateful to finally have found my go to dentist. I truly trust them with my family. I highly recommend Landmark Dental to everyone!!! Mahalo!
I've been a patient at Landmark Dental for over a year and have received nothing but quality care from Landmark. I just left Landmark's office and the administrative team treated me with such disrespect that I felt compelled to write this review. A few months ago when I was between jobs and uninsured, they sold me a package which included 2 free cleanings as well as a discount on other dental services. I recently accepted a new job which provides dental insurance in network with Landmark. When I called to confirm coverage, the person who answered the phone stated my current dentist at Landmark was in network with my new HMSA Dental plan. I then asked them about the package that I already signed up for with 2 free cleanings. I want to be very clear: I was NOT asking for a refund on that package, but dental insurance always has maximums and limits so I wanted to make sure that the cleaning I already paid for would not be put through my new insurance. The woman on the phone said "we've never had a case like this before"; furthermore, she stated that Landmark would most likely bill my insurance company for the cleaning for which I had already paid Landmark. I live down the street and left their office around 45 minutes ago. When I asked to speak with an office/billing manager, the woman who greeted me when I entered said "no, they're not here." When I asked when they'd be back, she said "you can check back in the morning." When I started to ask about the double billing, she stated "you need to talk to the manager about that." At that point, the woman who sold me the initial package was at the counter, and I directly asked her if she remembered selling it to me and she said she had not. I told her that nowhere does it state that Landmark has the right to bill my insurance for the cleanings I already paid for. At that point, she looked for to a 3rd woman (presumably the office manager/administrator that was supposedly absent as told to me by the first employee) and asked her about it. She told me that when I came in for me next exam & cleaning, Landmark fully intended to bill my insurance company for the cleaning I already paid for. When I protested, they said the only way they wouldn't bill my insurance for the cleaning I already paid for is if I scheduled the exam and cleaning on different days. TLDR: Great dental care, but HORRIBLE billing practices. Landmark is attempting to get paid twice for the same service. Landmark has no qualms about billing insurance for services which patients already paid for. PS - At least during one of my office visits, they had signs up offering discounts for Google reviews - take all the 5 stars here with a grain of salt.
