Powered by GoogleThis is the most unprofessional, incompetent business in the area. Don't waste your time trying to even talk to someone. They tried to con me out of additional money stating "We don't see the reason to only take one tooth out. It's not enough money. Unless you need to take out another one." At this point, even though I had absolutely no other bad teeth, I was actually going to give them an otherwise non-painful tooth just so I could be put out of my misery. After that, they said "okay, fine. We'll call back and schedule you in" and ghosted me. Thank God for Portland Oral Surgery for actually doing their job at a greatly reduced price, timeframe and a much better costumer service experience.
Yesterday this place and everyone there literally saved my life. I was battling multiple serious infections that spread through my body. The staff was kind and professional and made me feel comfortable the whole time. It was like taking a nice nap and it happened without me even knowing. I just woke up and 10 teeth were gone. The surgeon was a master of his art. He closed the wounds so well I can barely see them. It's early morning and I woke up with no pain. Thank you and God bless everyone who helped me. I feel so much better.
This business is clearly not interested in helping people; it's all about the money. I was told that they were taking new patients for wisdom tooth extractions. Great! I have two impacted ones on the bottom (tops are gone) and am interested in having the left one out. Paying cash, up front if necessary. I was told "Oh, we can't take people to extract just one tooth". What?? Even though it keeps getting infected, I don't have dental insurance and am wanting to hire you to HELP ME? I cannot believe the lower level of care that this region in Maine (or maybe all of Maine, who knows) "provides" for people. The options are deeply limited here and places out of town won't operate on someone further away. I'm absolutely shocked that I was turned down without any further questions. I guess it's not surprising to see an overall low rating for this place.
This place is great, a relaxed vibe, very friendly and helpful staff, and Dr. Grubb really knows his stuff. When I went in for multiple extractions they handled all the insurance details and did everything they could to make it as easy as possible. The procedure was smooth and I would definitely recommend this place. As other reviews have said it can take a long time to get in but that's not their fault with the shortage of oral surgeons in the Bangor area.
I recently had all four wisdom teeth removed at this office. The surgery itself went smoothly; Dr. Grubb and his medical team were competent and attentive. However, I was told pre-op that recovery would only take 2-3 days after the anesthesia wore off. Recovery was extremely painful and it took a full 2 weeks to heal and be able to resume normal life activities. After doing research and asking multiple people how their experiences were with wisdom teeth removal, it became clear that recovery taking up to 2 weeks is entirely normal, especially with impacted teeth (which mine were) because the surgery is more invasive and closer to the mandibular nerve. It would have been helpful for the office to be realistic about recovery time being variable depending on the patient/the situation. When I called the office in extreme pain 5 days post-op and asked how to manage the pain as I had run out of pain medication, I was told that I shouldn't be experiencing pain at all and something must be wrong with my healing process (which I knew wasn't the case as there were no signs of infection and I was doing everything I was told to do post-op). Multiple interactions with the front-desk staff were unpleasant; I was often spoken to in a rude and impatient manner when asking simple questions. Overall there is room for improvement in terms of clear communication, customer service, and patient care.
