I had an amazing experience at Open Door Family Dentistry in Grants Pass. Dr. Mitchell is incredibly competent and gentle—he truly makes you feel at ease from the moment you sit in the chair. It’s clear he cares about his patients’ comfort and takes the time to explain everything thoroughly. The dental assistants are efficient, friendly, and great at what they do. They help create a smooth, stress-free visit every time. Honestly, the entire staff is extremely warm and welcoming. You can feel the positive atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door. I highly recommend Open Door Family Dentistry to anyone looking for compassionate, professional dental care!
Becky was the BEST hygienist EVER! She took her time and did a very thorough job! There have been times where I felt the hygienist rushed my teeth cleaning, but Becky did an amazingly thorough job and I left feeling like my teeth were really clean. Since we drove over from Brookings, it's really important to me that my teeth get thoroughly cleaned. Becky for the win!
Always accommodating to schedules, super fast and thorough care, and you don’t have to schedule weeks or months in advance. They have the latest technologies available, and make everything affordable. I do not like going to the dentist, at all. Open door is fantastic though, and I appreciate their care and service.
I’m really disappointed with my experience here, specifically around billing transparency. I had a crown prep completed last year and came in this January for the permanent crown. I was charged an additional $50 due to the new insurance deductible year — which I understand insurance-wise — but this office prominently advertises a price guarantee stating: “If we quote you a price, you don’t pay more than that amount — we guarantee it.” At no point was I informed that the final cost could increase due to a new calendar year, despite this being a continuation of the same treatment. Being surprised with an extra charge at checkout directly contradicts the guarantee posted in the office. This isn’t about the $50 — it’s about trust and transparency. If there are exceptions to a “guarantee,” they should be clearly disclosed up front. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling misled, and I’ll be looking for a new dentist as a result. I want to update my original review. After I posted it, the office reached out to apologize for the confusion and refunded the $50 charge, which I do appreciate. I was surprised how fast they got me in. For my first visit I got a cleaning and X-rays followed by a dentist coming in and setting up entire step-by-step treatment plan to get all of my teeth in better shape. Highly recommend this office and it’s worth traveling from Crescent City for.
