Our team is excited to provide the finest oral and maxillofacial services in Southeast Idaho. Some of our services include dental implants, tooth extractions, wisdom teeth removal, TMJ treatment, sedation dentistry, and general reconstructive surgery. We have multiple offices to serve our patients better, in Pocatello, Blackfoot, and Preston. Dr. Mark E. Baker and Dr. Shawn A Jepsen are Southeast Idaho's premier facial and oral surgery experts. Baker, DDS A board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Baker is excited to work with the people of Southeast Idaho. Dr. Baker graduated with honor from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry and then performed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. Dr. Baker currently holds active memberships with the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, and the Idaho Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. In his free time, Dr. Baker lends his time and talents to needy families in South America. Shawn A. Jepsen, DMD A decorated Army officer, Dr. Jepsen loves the area and the people of Southeast Idaho and enjoys giving them the very best care. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and, while there, was a member of the National Dental Honor Society. He performed residencies at Tripler Army Medical Center and Madigan Army Medical Center. Dr. Jepsen has received a number of military awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Medal. When not work, he enjoys hanging out with his family, travelling, and outdoor pursuits like hunting and fishing. I was super nervous to get my wisdom teeth out because this was my first surgical procedure ever. Everything went super smooth and fast! Staff was very informative and friendly while still being professional. They made it easy for me to put my trust into them and reassured me I was in good hands. I felt really good within hours after my surgery and they sent me home with a care package that covered all my needs and gave me all the post-op information I needed. If I had to do it all over again I would 10/10 come back!
Took 2 of my daughters to have wisdom teeth removed, my youngest daughter having severe anxiety due to traumatic childhood dental experience, and she had gotten injured the day prior. The dentist (Baker) had no compassion or empathy for her anxiety, made the situation worse. We requested to speak to the “doctor” beforehand to try and ease her mind about the head injury she got the day prior, he never spoke to us, didn’t introduce himself when he first walked into the room, and made it very clear that if we didn’t get the work done he would no longer see us and wished us luck finding another oral surgeon as he is the only oral surgeon in the state of Idaho, after he grabbed my daughters arm twice to force the procedure instead of calming the situation. Anyone in the medical field should show compassion and/or help calm a patient with severe anxiety which was expressed in paperwork and in person. I am very much ok with driving my kids the extra mile for any other services as long as we are treating properly.
If I could give 10 stars, I would! From the first phone call it was excellent! It can be a stressful situation & they did such a great job at explaining everything & calming any nerves. They add the personal touch that you don’t get everywhere. The front desk, our assistant, & Dr. Jepsen were fantastic. They are so friendly & put all your nerves at ease! They know what they are doing & it’s obvious as they take care of you. The after care was amazing too! Checking on you & ready to answer any questions. Everything is healing perfectly & that speaks volumes!! I would recommend them to everyone I know. 10/10!! 🙌🏼 Thank you!
This place is great! My son needed emergency surgery and they got us in first thing in the morning. The office is beautiful with very friendly staff. Doctor Baker was very thorough and walked us through everything and was very good with my 3 year old. We were in and out within 30 mins. I would recommend Oral Surgery Specialist of Idaho- specifically Dr. Baker to everybody.
Dr Baker and his staff are amazing! My daughter was a bit nervous to have her wisdom teeth pulled, they made it a great experience! Explained everything to us and made her feel so comfortable. Definitely glad we chose their office.
