This is not a review of Dr. Daniel Riggs or the service he provided. This is a review of the Patient Services, Receptionists, and anyone involved in the collection and handling of Insurance or Payments. Before choosing QMG for my wisdom tooth removal I had called several places to confirm: Total Cost, Upfront Cost (what I would have to pay before insurance was processed), and if they could take and file my insurance. QMG offered the best rate and lowest upfront cost Multiple times including the day of extraction I gave the receptionist my insurance information. Each time I was told an approximation of "Yes, we take that, and we'll file the claim for you." I asked them once more before heading back for the extraction. The only difference for "In-network" vs "Out-of-Network" for my insurance is that an "In-Network" provider can easily submit a claim for me but an "Out-of-Network" provider requires me to submit one. After the removal, gums still bleeding, the receptionist informed me that I, A) Did not have dental insurance (WRONG) B) After explaining for the nth time that my medical and dental cards were the same card, it became we're not in network and can't file this. Sure Anthem sucks to deal with but at least they gave me a path forward (took a lot of time like anything with insurance), unfortunately that path involved getting a signed American Dental Association Claim Form from the QMG Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. I received the form only after I sent inquiries multiple times as to the location of the form. When I finally received it, the Dr.'s Signature was completely illegible. Then on Thursday the 15th of January I received a final invoice telling me they would send my remaining balance to collections. (After being in contact multiple times and explaining my situation.) The invoice said I must call or make arrangements before JANUARY 13TH two days before I even received the letter. Just absolutely maddening.
