Our boy had been so fussy and some days would be screaming in pain all day long. He was experiencing the worst gas and belly pain and so many other symptoms. We knew in our hearts something wasn’t right. We were told it was normal, that "babies just cry" and "babies are just gassy" but as a mama, I kept asking questions and pushing for answers. After trusting that instinct, we learned he had not only a lip tie, but also tongue and buccal (cheek) ties that were making it hard for him to eat properly. Those restrictions were causing him to swallow excess air, choke, and gag, leading to so much discomfort. Finding Dr. Thornton has been such a blessing to us. From the moment we walked into his office, we felt heard, validated, and cared for. He took the time to thoroughly evaluate him and explain how oral ties can impact feeding, digestion, and overall comfort: things many parents are never told about. Since getting the care he needed, we have already seen such a difference. He’s more comfortable, feeds are calmer, and we finally feel like our baby is getting relief. He is truly a completely different and happier baby. This is your reminder to trust your gut. You know your baby best. If something feels off, keep advocating no matter what it is. Oral ties are real, and not looked for enough. They can have a big impact, and awareness matters. We cannot recommend Dr. Thornton and his amazing team at Robert H. Thornton, DMD, PLLC in Tupelo, enough. We are beyond grateful for the compassion, knowledge, and care they showed our baby boy.
I had notable lip and tongue ties, and Dr. Thornton released them. The entire process was extremely informative, and the staff was so kind. I couldn’t believe the amount of tension relief I experienced. I still have to put in the work to keep these ties released, but I’m so grateful to Dr. Thornton!
We cannot rave about our experience with Dr Thornton enough. Our daughter had three strands of a lip tie, a tongue tie, and two cheek ties. The ridges of her mouth were already deforming at six weeks old. Dr Thornton highly educated us and made us feel incredibly comfortable throughout, from pre to post procedure. He also informed us how neglected tongue/lip ties can affect adults, which we will also look into. We strongly recommend them to take care of your little ones.
Dr Thornton spent so much time with us, taking an in depth history for both of my kids. He performed a super thorough physical exam and came up with a treatment plan I’m very pleased with. Highly recommend
Dr. Thornton and his staff were beyond amazing!! I used him for my daughter’s tongue/lip tie revision when she was only 2 weeks old, and I am so glad. He and his staff were thorough, friendly, professional, and you can tell he is passionate about what he does!
