Higley opted a same-day extraction of one permanent tooth and placement of implant on July 11, 2023, scheduled only one follow-up 3 months later. After literally begging to be seen due to pain, low-grade fever, and loosening of adjacent teeth, Higley blew it off “not the implant.” Second opinion said the same-day procedure caused excessive trauma, called Higley and I went back again to be gaslighted yet again while still in pain with low-grade fever. He didn’t take an X-ray at either follow-up. 2.5 months after initial placement, with pus oozing from the site, then his office staff said to come in again since I had symptoms he could see. Instead of driving back to Lubbock for more indifference, I went to a compassionate oral surgeon in Abilene. The infected implant failed. I have permanent bone loss and gum damage and must have 3 additional teeth removal due to the damage. Yes, he refunded my investment; unfortunately, he cannot replace the bone, gum, or 2 additional teeth. Higley literally could not be bothered to address or diagnose the problem: INFECTION and implant rejection.

My mom,Sammie Skains had a full set of implants top and bottom. It has been a 2 year process that has been time consuming, frustrating, and at times very painful for my mom. Mother had an implant fail on her top after a bone graft that we told Dr Higley that if a bone graft was necessary on the top to just put implants in the bottom. And after extra pain and suffering and a very extended recovery it took 9 visits for the final teeth to be made to fit. Many times with no corrections from James, and usually taking 6 weeks between try on.I would never recommend implants and especially if Dr Higleis the surgeon!!

It has been years since Dr Higley removed my wisdom teeth, but he did a great job. I recommend him all the time to others. I initially was referred to another Dr and had to walk out during the consult it was so bad. The staff was great and he did a great job before, during and after the removal. I have lots of anxiety about dental work and I would definitely use them again if needed.
