Went in spring 2025 to get scans for a concern around my root, but didn't end up needing anything at the time so they told me to call if/when I feel anything out of place, I was thankful for the thorough walkthrough of my situation at the time. November came around and overnight my pain got so bad I had to get an emergency root canal. Called it in on Thursday and they were able to get me in Monday. Process was easy and PAIN FREE!!! They listened to my local anesthesia concerns and adjusted accordingly to my needs. Dr Spires and his assistants were communicative and gentle throughout their entire process! 12/10 would go back if I ever need to. I am all healed and feel great! :)
11/10 experience. HIGHLY recommend. I was able to get in the same day I called due to a previous cancellation. Emily, the receptionist, answered all my questions and was very caring & kind. Lexie (that assisted Dr.Spires) was super sweet and did an excellent job as well. Dr. Spires = AMAZING. First time patient and will only ever go here if I need more work done that requires an endodontist. Entire process was completely smooth.
I had a root canal done and it was a positive experience. I had a consultation and met with Dr. Spiers prior to the procedure. He put my fears at ease and was very knowledgeable, which was very calming. The office staff is very professional and pleasant. I highly recommend Southern Indiana Endodontics.
I want to thank Dr. Joseph Spires at Southern Indiana Endodontics for doing an excellent job on my 1st Root Canal ever, on November 3, 2025. I was REALLY nervous, because I haven’t had ANY dental work done in 10+ years. I could hardly feel the shots in my gums, because he used a numbing gel beforehand, and wiggled my cheek, where it was less noticeable. My tooth was difficult to numb, but he took extra precautions and took care, to make sure I was completely numb before the Root Canal. I felt NO pain during the 2.5 procedure, and that was a true blessing and miracle! Dr. Spires explained my tooth problem in detail before the procedure, showing me images and x-rays, to help me understand everything better. He explained everything he was doing, as he did it, frequently checking if I was okay, and not in pain. He made sure I was comfortable the entire time, and that was very appreciated and a true rarity. I honestly feel like I saw the BEST Endodontist in the United States!!! Dr. Spires was very patient, kind, intelligent, sociable, attentive, detailed, and I could tell that he truly cares about his patients. The entire experience exceeded my highest expectations. My 1st Root Canal was not nearly as bad/scary/painful as I thought it would be. I have Dr. Spires to thank for that, and for saving my tooth. Thank you SO much, Dr. Spires and the entire staff at Southern Indiana Endodontics! God Bless you all for eternity! =-)
Went to a general dentist with tooth sensitivity to cold and was referred to Dr. Spires. If you ever need a root canal - go to an endodontist. They literally specialize in diagnosing and repairing your tooth's roots. If you're in Bloomington, IN go to Dr. Spire at SIE Root. He is so caring and comforting and his team is very helpful and kind. The star of the show is their advanced Gentle Wave machine that replaces the old fashioned method by using water to thoroughly clean your root canals. The process took a bit longer than expected due to my root system but I didn't feel any pain throughout the entire procedure. I felt a little pinch here and there during the numbing process but Dr. Spires is so great at administering the shots with his "wiggle technique". Overall, great experience and if you need a root canal, don't wait. Trust me, the pain of needing a root canal is so much worse than the actual procedure. They also tell you the co-payment up front so you know what to expect financially.
