This was my first visit to the "clinic". I had a 11am appointment for a tooth extraction, but they wanted me to be there by 10am. We (my wife accompanied me) arrived and were given a stack of paperwork to fill out, understandably. I filled all the paperwork out and by 10:30am, I was taken in to the operatory. I was hooked up to the machine that monitors your vital signs. I could see the machine and I was able to see my vitals, (normally this machine is kept out of sight, such as behind the chair). My blood pressure was 137/80. I was left in that room for over two hours before the Doctor came in. I might add that the chair was the most uncomfortable dentist chair I've ever been in. By now I was getting a slight anxiety attack, I've never has to wait that long. And watching my blood pressure rise while sitting there didn't help. The doctor proceeded to give me the shots of novocaine. By now my BP was 177/94. I kept looking at it (which didn't help). The doctor recommended some Nitrous Oxide to try to bring my PB down. This didn't work. At 2:12pm, (over 3 hours waiting in the operatory) my BP reached 181/101 and the doctor canceled the surgery and I went back home. I got an appointment at another oral surgery center for Friday morning. I filled out all the paperwork for them on-line prior to my visit. When we got there, we only waited about 5 minutes to get into the operatory. I was immediately hooked up to the vital sign machine (it was behind me and out of my view). A few minutes later the doctor and 3 nurses/assistants started working on me. By 11:55am, I was in my car and on my way home. I would not recommend St. Louis South Oral Surgery to anyone.
I can honestly say I have never encountered such a caring team of people before. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable, safe, and taken care of. As someone who has life long anxiety both in and out of the dentist, feeling the genuine care and empathy Dr. Gray and his team have helped immensely. I had a complete upper implant series done which is an all day endeavor, and everyone goes out of their way to make sure youre looked after every step of the process. I cannot recommend them enough.
Questionable business, unfriendly office staff. Billed us for more than 5 times the amount we actually owed, per the negotiated rate of our network. We suspect this may have been done intentionally, though of course we have no way of knowing for sure. The office also smacks of upselling, with promotions for elective beauty-related procedures everywhere. The office staff were terse with us simply for asking if they could run their initial estimate through our insurance for a more specific out-of-pocket cost, and not overly helpful at other times either. If looking for just a straight-forward, friendly oral surgeons office, this is not it.
I am so grateful to have had my impacted wisdom teeth removal surgery done with them! They did amazing and the staff were awesome and comforting and my healing process has been great. The surgery itself was smooth and easy and there was no stress or troubles at all! They also take Medicaid so my surgery was completely covered! Thank you so much!
The office staff is rude and be prepared to talk to 5 different people to schedule your appointment. Had the teeth removed, had a piece still in there. When we went back five days later, the appointment was at 8:30 and he had an office meeting until 9:30 and didn’t take me until 10am then he was extremely rude! Four others that came in after me were taken before me and they even said “I expect to have no professionalism from this place.” Definitely will NOT be back!
