The Dental Lounge delivers personalized care in the most calming setting — a charming 100-year-old historic home that instantly puts you at ease. Every staff member, from front desk to hygienist to dentist, was professional, warm, and fantastic. Love supporting a practice where the dentist also plays sax in a philanthropic jazz band — community-focused and talented! Easy parking and great location make it even better. Highly recommend.
Dr. Desai did excellent technical work on my bonding repair and the final result looks fantastic. I appreciated being fit in quickly and at the last minute. However, I was extremely disappointed with the way my concerns were addressed by Dr. Desai during the appointment. When I asked questions about cost and treatment options, his tone felt condescending at times. Several of my questions were met with eye-rolling or dismissive responses. At one point, I became visibly upset due to how the conversation was handled. I share this only because I believe patients should feel respected when asking reasonable questions about their care. The rest of the staff was kind, welcoming, and supportive towards me during my visit.
I cannot recommend Dr. Shaan Desai and his team highly enough! I was long overdue for a cleaning because I tend to put off dental visits due to anxiety, but this experience completely put me at ease. From the moment I walked in, everyone was kind, patient, and reassuring. Dr. Desai took the time to explain everything clearly, and his gentle, caring approach made all the difference. The office itself feels calm and welcoming, and the entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable every step of the way. I finally feel confident keeping up with regular visits thanks to this wonderful team. If you have any hesitation about going to the dentist, this is the place to go!
I highly recommend this dental office. The hygienist was exceptionally attentive and the practice provides comprehensive care. It is located in an historic home on Burlington Ave in Iowa City which provides a cozy, comfortable and personal atmosphere. On my most recent visit, I needed a prescription written and Dr. Desai and his staff had it ready for me at the pharmacy within two hours after my appointment.
This was one of the best dental experiences I've had. Dr. Desai and his entire staff were helpful, thorough, professional and friendly. They listened to my concerns and requests. He is well versed in many aspects of dental care, I highly recommend this practice. You will be in good hands!
