I spent 6 months of the last year in constant tooth and gum pain because of the negligence of these providers. I came here in July for a routine cleaning and a nightguard replacement, and was told I had one cavity. That cavity necessitated a filling, which I had Dr. Zakkour put in. Two weeks post-filling I was in terrible pain, unable to chew. Having been pain-free prior to visiting Dr. Zakkour, I scheduled a follow-up appointment, and was told to wait it out, and come back in three more weeks if my teeth still hurt. Five weeks post-filling, I sat in Dr. Zakkour's chair in tears, unable to eat, and he told me he "wished I had told him sooner" about the pain I was in, after having sent me home with no help three weeks prior. He then indicated there must be something wrong with the filling he had put in, and said that the tooth would have to be removed. Removal of the tooth did not fix my pain either, so I was then referred by Dr. Zakkour to an out-of-network specialist. The specialist indicated that my new nightguard had been improperly fitted, and the constant stress of the poorly-made nightguard on the ligaments in my gums caused the unceasing pain I had experienced for over two months. When I returned to Dr. Zakkour's office with this verdict, they adjusted the nightguard, but insisted that it needed to be tight "so that it doesn't fall out while you're sleeping." The pain in my gums did not go away until December, and I have still been unable to use my pricey new nightguard without pain. I paid for a cleaning, a nightguard, a filling, a removal, a 3D scan, a specialist visit, and more, and all I got for my trouble was one less tooth. I will not be coming back to this office, and I encourage others in need of dental care to avoid it as well.
The staff were pleasant.. but I was not informed that my appointment would only be an evaluation for the provider to solely make recommendations. He only reiterated the issues that I’ve already expressed when scheduling my appt to come in. I was not presented many solutions to resolve my dental challenges. Root canals and crowns to be scheduled months out. I scheduled my appointment in hopes that there would be a more urgent solution. Even if that included extractions. Which was not recommended. Unfortunately, I was only offered treatment options to extend my pain. There was a lot of gray area with the solutions that were presented. A lot of maybes. No sense of urgency. This is not the place for more emergent dental fixes. :( Just not the place for me.. cleanings unavailable for months out. I’m sure they’re great.. unfortunately just not a great experience for me coming in to have things resolved that were not..
I can’t say enough good things about Wael Zakkour. I have been to so many dentist and endodontist for so many months trying to figure out about a problem with what they thought was needed a root canal. All the way to Staunton and Richmond. Had problems finding a dentist that would take my insurance. Needing a hip replacement all at the same time. This man is amazing and very thorough, after all this time found out a root canal was not the way to go. This man stood by me for the last probably 6 weeks not being in my net work for insurance. He wanted to make sure I was making the right decision. Last week he took care of my issue. Worked with me on out of pocket expenses. I have been in and out of so many dentist chairs and this man knew all I had been through and what I still have facing me and he was like a dream come true, I can never thank him enough, I cry every time I go in that office. Not only did he help me but his assistants and office employees have also helped me, if you are in need of dentist this is the place to go, THOMSON DRIVE DENTAL. Thanks to the whole group in this great place.
I came in a little more than a year ago. I confess to years of neglect on my part regarding my teeth. Plenty of excuses and none any good. There was no judgement by anyone at any time. Dr. Zakkour simply said, "Well, you are here now and we can get you fixed." And he did... The technicians and administrative staff at Thomson Drive Dental are also quite skilled, friendly and engaging. If you have been putting off giving your teeth the attention they need, I highly recommend a trip to Thomson Drive Dental and a visit with Dr. Zakkour!
